Frederico Mateo-Ogando, 21, and Tahjae Roberts, 20, both of Danbury, were arrested around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after being stopped in the Balmforth Avenue area, said Lt. Mark Williams.
Relyea’s attention was brought to a vehicle being operated by Mateo-Ogando, as a computer check revealed the registration plate on the vehicle didn’t match the car he was operating. Based on that, Relyea initiated a motor vehicle stop while approaching the vehicle detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the stopped car, Williams said.
A search of the car turned up an ounce of pot, several Xanax pills, and $680 in cash believed to profit from drug sales, police said.
Frederico Mateo-Ogando was charged with numerous traffic and drug violations. He is being held on $5,000 bond.
Roberts was also charged with various traffic and drug violations and is being held on $5,000 bond.
